NEW YORK — Giant gorilla nuts will be headed to the United States from Africa, a move that is a major win for the U.N. agency that is spearheading efforts to protect gorillas and other threatened species in the wild.
Gorilla nuts, or sesame nuts, are one of the few nut varieties native to Africa.
A company called Gorilla Growers is making a commercial sale of the nuts to the U,S.
from an undisclosed location.
The nuts will come from Africa in four separate shipments starting in the summer of 2016.
The company said the nuts will arrive by cargo plane from the U.,S.
to a warehouse in Atlanta, Ga.
Gorilla Growth is part of Gorilla International, an African conservation group that works to protect endangered species.
